The Olcott Oration 2019 was be delivered by the distinguished old Anandian, Maithri Panagoda. He is a Senior Partner of Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers, a firm that has a long tradition of fighting for justice for ordinary Australians and those marginalised in society. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Notre Dame in Australia. In addition to numerous accolades he has received during his career, he was made a member of the “Order of Australia” (AM) in 2016 for significant services to the law and community. Mr Panagoda obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ceylon, and Master of Laws from the University of Sydney. He is renowned for his pioneering work representing members of the “Stolen Generations” in Australia.
